Snow Focus

Effective date: October 21, 2026

Snow Focus does not collect any personal information. There is no sign-up or login, no server of our own, and no analytics, tracking, or ads. Only when you turn on the optional Real Weather feature is your approximate location sent to Apple Weather to look up the weather.

1. Information we collect

The app has no sign-up or login, and the developer does not collect or receive any personal information.

2. Real Weather (optional) and location

  • Real Weather is off when you first install the app and works only after you turn it on in the menu.
  • When you turn it on, macOS asks for permission to use your location. If you allow it, the app gets your approximate location, rounds it to two decimal places (about 1 km), and sends it to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) to get the forecast for your area.
  • Your location goes from your Mac to Apple only, never through a server of ours, and the app does not save it. The forecast it receives is kept in memory only while the app is running and is fetched again after 6 hours.
  • Apple states in its WeatherKit documentation that location information is used only to provide weather forecasts, is not associated with any personally identifiable information, and is never tracked between requests. Apple's handling follows the Apple Privacy Policy.
  • You can turn Real Weather off at any time from the menu, or remove location access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

3. Information used only on your Mac

  • App preferences Only settings such as theme, snow amount, idle time, and which features are on are stored on your device and are never transmitted.
  • Window positions and sizes When Snow on Windows is on, the app reads only the position and size of open windows so snow can pile up on them. It does not read window titles or contents and does not ask for Screen Recording permission. These values are never stored or transmitted.
  • Mouse position and button presses Used to push flakes away from the cursor and to tell when you are moving a window. Never stored or transmitted.

4. Retention and deletion

The developer holds no personal information. Your location is used only for the weather request and is not saved. Preferences exist only on your Mac and are removed when you delete the app's data folder (~/Library/Containers/com.appgalpi.SnowOnMac).

5. Analytics, ads, and tracking

The app includes no analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs, and it does not track you.

6. Sharing with third parties

Because the developer receives no personal information, there is nothing to share with or entrust to third parties. How your location reaches Apple when Real Weather is on is described in section 2.

7. Children's privacy

The app collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
